Yeah, I know... I'm sure these have been talked to death.
But why does Concord feel it necessary to teleport to the rescue of a 0.01m3 Beacon, when my SB hits it?
What is the point of these modules, if we can't set them off without checking the vicinity for ANYTHING that isn't an enemy ship.
I can fire guns THROUGH people and objects. I can fire Torpedos which apparently explode for kilometers, or at least the bright flash extends that far out.
But I set off a 5km pulse, which happens to connect with some floating debris, and Concord thinks I'm the worst guy to ever fly a spaceship???

Actually... I haven't lost anything to them in about a year. But I keep finding smartbombs in loot, and wind up selling/recycling them.
It's just lame that Concord will come to the rescue of random space trash.
Side note: I did receive a mission the other day, the name escapes me ATM. I was sent to recover a T2 Large EMP Smartbomb BPC (1 run). Then it recommended I make one and fit it for the next step of the mission chain. I had one in loot anyways, so I still have the BPC. But I went ahead and fit it, curious what'd happen. When I warped into the mission, I was surrounded by teeny frigates which would have popped in one pulse. But I also noticed a lot of floating crap within range as well.
I made sure to get well clear of anything before I set it off, and nothing happened aside from frigate wrecks. But I wonder why the mission would suggest using a module in High Sec, knowing full well that it'd get me Concorded.

I'm just waiting for the day Concord comes to the rescue of those poor defenseless asteroids.
Millions of them! Floating innocent and free! Viciously assaulted by "Miners" every day!

No... Smartbomb, as in a weapon that minimizes collateral damage. These are just the opposite. A torpedo, which looks like it explodes for kilometers, only hurts the single ship it was fired at. Even if that ship were 0m from another ship, only the target themselves takes damage.
"Smart"bombs on the other hand, inflict weak amounts of damage onto anything in reach. Usually not enough to do more than destroy drones and possibly missiles... but more than enough to get Concord's attention when you toast the hell out of a floating Snickers wrapper or Pepsi can. |

Definately.
For instance, how about Concord only steps in when an action involved damage to a sentient and mobile target. So shooting someone's Jet Can would only flag you to the owner, but shooting the owner themselves before they flag back, would still call in Concord.
Sure, it could lead to a lot of griefing, but it'd save a lot of accidental ship losses as well. |
